Coordinating a Work Permit Notice and Family Visas
Situation
A foreign employee planned to work in China and relocate with family members. The employee needed a work permit notice and Z visa, while the family required S visas.
Problem
Because the Chinese visa applications were filed in a third country, the consulate requested additional background information and written explanations. The employee and family information also needed to remain consistent across the permit and visa documents.
Solution
We included the accompanying family details in the work permit notice application so that they appeared on the notice. When further questions were raised, we organised the supporting documents and prepared the required explanations for the Z- and S-visa applications.
Timeline
Work permit notice with family details → Z/S visa filing in a third country → supplementary documents and explanations → entry into China → residence permit filing
Result
The employee and family obtained their visas and entered China. The employee then completed the work-type residence permit process as planned.
Important notes
Third-country filing rules and supplementary requirements vary by consulate, applicant status and local residence. They should be confirmed before filing.
